About “South Wind, Northern Songs”

"South Wind, Northern Songs" is the new album by Good Ground co-written by John Wills, Carla Wills, and Zach Thomas. The writing and guitar-driven musical performances showcase vocal tradeoffs by John and Carla Wills, dynamic blends of layered acoustic and electric guitars, tempos that range from driving upbeat to melancholy and slow. Much of it was dreamed up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin during the band’s yearly musical escape. The album was recorded at the historic Quonset Hut recording studio in Nashville, TN and mastered at The Boiler Room in Chicago, IL.

About Good Ground:

Good Ground was formed in 2012 by husband and wife duo John & Carla Wills, and longtime friend Zach Thomas. John and Zach have been writing and performing music together throughout Chicago for over a decade. John studied at Berklee College of Music, while Zach studies at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Good Ground has roots in the Chicago suburbs and Nashville, TN.
