CBG Benefits Hosts a Full-Crowd at Health Care Reform Seminar

WOBURN, Mass. - March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Employers from around New England gathered to learn about a topic that is becoming more important with each passing day --- federal health care reform. CBG Benefits, a full-service employee benefits brokerage firm in Woburn, Massachusetts, hosted the seminar to address concerns about the health care requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

The seminar, which featured a keynote presentation by Tom Greene and Patricia Moran of Mintz Levin, focused on many of the key initiatives set out by PPACA. Based on questions from the audience, it was apparent that the employer Shared Responsibility mandate, or “pay or play” rule, is having a major impact on companies as they plan for the near-future.

"While we are still awaiting final clarification on a number of the rules set out by health care reform, it’s critical that employers take steps now to understand how they will be affected,"  said Chris Costello, Founder and Principal at CBG Benefits. "2014 will bring major changes to the worlds of insurance and employee benefits --- but we are here to help companies navigate a successful course. Hosting an event like this one plays a big role in that effort."

Due to the tremendous number of registrants, the seminar was moved to a much larger meeting room prior to the event.

"The questions posed by attendees during this event reflect the concerns that are shared by employers of all types and sizes," said Ted Haughey, Senior Vice President at CBG Benefits. "To put it lightly, health care reform is a complicated matter. But companies cannot take a wait-and-see approach. They need to start analyzing their current situation, utilize the resources that the government has provided, and start analyzing their options."

During the event, CBG Benefits announced the release of a number of resources that companies can utilize to understand their responsibility under the Affordable Care Act. Interested parties are encouraged to visit http://CBGBenefits.com/seminar/ to download items such as the "Health Care Reform Compliance Checklist", "Health Care Reform Toolkit", and more.

"Our audience was great and the feedback we received on the program was very positive", said Tom Greene, Member of Mintz Levin. "CBG Benefits did a great job organizing and promoting the event.  We share Chris and Ted’s sentiments about now being the time to act, particularly, if employers wish to take maximum advantage of the transition rules for 2014."
