A Tree Grows in the Palm City Library

STUART, Fla. - March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Visitors to the Palm City Library will notice that a life-like pine tree now frames the stairway to the second floor children’s area. Rooted on the first floor near the entrance, the 12’ tree reaches up into the Children’s Treetop Library; the longest branch extends 8’ from the trunk.

Anna and Clayton “Tim” Timmons donated the funding to the Library Foundation of Martin County for this magnificent creation designed by Brenda Leigh and Dwight Snedeker. After months of construction and painting, the Children’s Treetop Library was dedicated on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 4:30 pm.

Tim was an educator for 31 years and chaired the operation of 18 media centers in suburban Detroit. The Timmons have spent the winter here since the 1970’s. They were also major supporters of the expansion of the Palm City Library and when they visited the second floor children’s library they saw an opportunity to create a Treetop Library especially for kids. Beautiful scenes of the Florida outdoors, wetlands and native birds painted by Brenda Leigh, a highly respected mural artist, cover the walls.  Giant stuffed animals create comfortable reading nooks for the kids. The blinds provide shade from the sun and there is also a proscenium for the stage area.
