Pete Olson 6th in points standings after AFR R1&2– Looks forward to June Pan Delta Race Weekend

With excellent weather conditions for last weekend’s Asia Formula Renault [AFR] Rounds 1&2 March 16-17, both AFR races were closely-fought battles from start to finish. Sideways Driving Club guests watched the excitement from the VIP suite overlooking pit lane as the Zhuhai International Circuit saw a record turnout for the weekend with over 25,000 guests, with Red Bull drifting shows, superbike stunt shows and touring car and superbike race events rounding out the weekend.

Sideways Driving Club/ChildFund driver Pete Olson of PS Racing qualified in the 38s, a full second faster than his best time on the spec series slicks over last year in Champ Motorsport. With Round One on Saturday afternoon and Round Two Sunday afternoon, both races were held under excellent weather conditions but both saw the safety car deployed due to incidents on track. International category driver Pete Olson finished 6th in both races earning 13 points for each event, putting him just outside the top 5 in overall points standings going into Rounds 3&4.

With the June Pan Delta Race Festival just 10 weeks away, again at Zhuhai International Circuit with record crowds expected Olson said ‘We are still looking for another second of laptime to be able to get on the podium consistently, and with the strong progress we showed in winter testing compared to last year’s car, I have no doubt that we will make that progress with further dedicated effort.”

“The car is far better than what I had last year, and I am driving consistently faster now especially in terms of corner speed – a full 104mph now in the most difficult corner in Zhuhai. Things like this really show how much better the car and setup are in comparison and I really feel I made the right move coming to PS Racing - I am really looking forward to June’s races.
