Bring school supplies to help provide an education for children in Haiti. Hope for the Hungry helps provide a Christ-centered education to over 500 students at two schools in Haiti. Education has become a major focus of Hope for the Hungry in an effort to help break the cycle of generational poverty in Haiti. Only 52.9% of people in Haiti over the age of 15 can read and write and only 65% of school-aged children are enrolled in school, mainly due to poverty. Hope for the Hungry has been serving in Haiti since 1982 and believes providing an education can help break the cycle of generational poverty in Haiti. All proceeds from the “Taste of Hope” event at Grand Avenue Theater will go towards Hope for the Hungry’s efforts to “share the Bread of Life with a starving world.” The Taste of Hope event will be held at Grand Avenue Theater, located at 2809 Oak Mark Dr. in Belton on March 28, 2013 from open to close. The C.O.R.E. initiatives of Hope for the Hungry are focused around Children, Outreach, Relationships and Education. We tackle these initiatives through our weekly local outreach right here in Belton and our support of schools and children's homes in Haiti. Additionally, Hope for the Hungry has an established network of cooperative missionaries and organizations in more than 17 different countries including the USA.
