The Ministry of Communications & IT has come up with a National Cloud Initiative (GI Cloud). This speaks about the GI Cloud Architecture, GI Cloud Environment, Eco-System, Governance, Capacity Building, Business Model, and Implementation.
The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) takes a holistic view of e-Governance initiatives across the country, integrating them into a collective vision, a shared cause. The key pillars of the infrastructure under NeGP includes: State Wide Area Network (SWAN), State Data Centres (SDCs), National Service Delivery Gateway (NSDG), State Service Delivery Gateways (SSDGs), Common Service Centres (CSCs).
SDC scheme has been approved by Government with an outlay of Rs. 1623.20 Crore over a period of 5 years (2011-2015). The implementation of SDC has been completed in 14 states and is operational now as of 2nd Sept. 2011 out of the 31 States in India. 4 States are under implementation of SDC. Bid process for the rest 13 States is in progress.
Some of the key issues to be addressed by the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology at The Global High on Cloud Summit includes: Issues faced with the cross border data transfer, Regulatory involvement with the Cloud technology and the future road-map for cloud development in India 2016-20 plan.
