PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 21, 2013 - AUSTIN, Texas -- MEET ME THERE is a new horror/suspense film about a beautiful young woman's quest to understand her past, and the demons she left behind in a small Oklahoma town.

Directed by Austin filmmaker Lex Lybrand (SUMMER LEAGUE) and written by Brandon Stroud ("Seven Hill City"), MEET ME THERE stars Dustin Runnels (WWE's "Goldust," THE MURDERS OF BRANDYWINE THEATER), Lisa Friedrich (THE VIRGIN OF PREY, artistic director at Houston's Station Theater) and Jill Thompson (famed comic book writer and illustrator, SCARY GODMOTHER, SWAMP THING, THE SANDMAN).  The passionate Texas-based Greenless Studios crew will begin shooting the film in and around Austin, TX, this May.

Speaking about the casting of Runnels, Lybrand said "I'm beyond thrilled to work with a talent like Dustin Runnels! As a lifelong WWE fan, I was initially introduced to Dustin through his work as Goldust, and I'm excited to give Dustin a chance to showcase his range and break free of the stigma that's attached to pro wrestlers branching out into mainstream film. I trust in Dustin's abilities as a performer, and I can't wait to share with everybody the role that he brings to life."

This exciting new project will be the second feature film from Greenless Studios, the force behind SUMMER LEAGUE, which recently held its world premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse and has played for packed houses at both Austin's Underground Comedy Fest and the Arizona International Film Festival.  MEET ME THERE takes the joy and humor of SUMMER LEAGUE to a dark, twisted place in the human heart.  MEET ME THERE follows Ada Blackwell (Friedrich) as she struggles with a mysterious sexual dysfunction and traces it back to her almost entirely-forgotten childhood in rural Oklahoma.  What she finds there is beyond belief -- a town obsessed with the occult, a preacher (Runnels) with a church full of dead bodies, a family ravaged by years of drug abuse and insanity and a dark woods that seem to go on forever.  The script is based on the true stories of Stroud's girlfriend, Destiny Talley, and the chilling memories that haunt her to this day.

"Making horror should be about earning your fear, not tricking you into feeling what we want you to feel," says Stroud. "The best of classic horror has always relied on the terror of the imagination ... the feeling that when you turn the corner something could be waiting for you, not the computer generated 'artist's rendering' of what that would explicitly be like.  MEET ME THERE is a throwback to the days when a 'good horror movie' could still be a 'good movie' first and foremost, but isn't afraid to dive headfirst into the gore, controversial subject matter and sexuality modern audiences die for."

MEET ME THERE is scheduled to wrap filming in early June, just in time for an October release.

The film will be independently produced by Greenless Studios, with additional funding coming from an Indiegogo campaign. In the first two days, the film has generated about $2,000 of its $10,000 goal.
