MYSORE, India - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Pioneering a whole new way of celebrating Earth Hour 2013, India-based start-up Vigyanlabs is promoting the idea of saving power in computers. Over the last two months it has provided its patented power saving software product for PCs - IPMPlus (www.ipmplus.com) - as a free download from its website and enrolled over 1,000+ people as "Friends of Earth Hour 2013" in a contest that is encouraging people to adopt power saving measures in computers. To cap the contest, it has even gone ahead and launched a free Android App (IPMPlus Earth Hour Edition Battery Saver) in Google Play [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vigyanlabs.ipmplus.ipmplusearthhour] to further promote the idea.

The results have been fantastic so far - 1,200 people across 240+ cities in 10 countries worldwide have joined the Friends of Earth Hour 2013 contest and collectively helped save over 3 MegaWattHours of electricity, over 1 Ton of CO2 emissions which is equivalent to growing 30 full sized trees in less than 60 days. The reception of the contest across the Indian sub-continent has been fantastic with over 2,000+ likes on the company's Facebook page. The World Wildlife Fund in India co-hosted a special event yesterday in New Delhi with Vigyanlabs which hosted India's Top 10 CIOs in a first of its kind CXO Round Table where they discussed the impact of IT Infrastructure power savings and committed themselves to reduce energy consumption in computers (mobiles, PCs and Data Centres). The company has hosted its keynote presentation at the event on SlideShare (http://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/embed_code/17412443).

Vigyanlabs has posted a unique I Will If You Will challenge on the Earth Hour Global Channel which challenges people all over the world to save power of computers. For every ton of CO2 emissions that such power savings help achieve, Vigyanlabs will plant 30 trees. (http://www.youtube.com/earthhour?x=/challenges/6099).

This innovation has been recognized by India's leading association of software companies - NASSCOM with its "Technology Innovation of the Year 2013". The Director General of India's Meteorology Department - Debabrata Joardar - termed this as "Innovation to sustain growth for future generation". Vigyanlabs is truly charting the worlds Next Green Revolution silently !
