XWarrior Race: Participants Prove Their Agility and Toughness

GURGAON, India - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Residents of Delhi and NCR region recently got a chance to prove their toughness by participating in India’s first commando style obstacle race that was held in the capital today. As many as 1000 people participated in the race that challenged them on various fitness parameters including balance, agility, stamina and strength.

Designed by Sports365, and powered by Woodland, XWarrior Race was especially made for fitness conscious and sports enthusiasts. The participants, including men and women, overcome more than 20 obstacles in their way to finish the race; dodging the hurdles, climbing ropes and walls, shooting the targets and balancing their bodies, they stumbled, rolled and pranced to push their physical boundaries.

Ajay Gupta, Founder, Sports365, was happy to witness an overwhelming response to his concept. The conviction with which the race was planned proved to be right. He said, “We were confident that the residents of Delhi-NCR would be game for this race because people are really getting tired of the idea of going to the gym. XWarrior race was a chance for them to test their strength and fitness level. We gave them a difficult challenge and they accepted it and performed like warriors. I was pleasantly surprised to see a diverse mix of participants from teenagers to a much older crowd in their 50s. At the end of the day, they enjoyed the race, had fun and made XWarrior an undeniable success.”

Though the race was army style, there were arrangements made to ensure safety on the field. With medical professionals and health experts on standby, the organizers didn’t compromise on safety of the public. He further added, “We didn’t want them to be too hard on themselves. Our team, tried to create a real environment filled with challenges that a soldier faces in his drill while paying attention to their wellbeing. Our experts were stationed throughout the field to monitor the participants and provide them water and refreshments. As a part of our rule, they were advised not to overdo anything because most of the contestants were first timers and new enthusiasts. So we even gave participants an option to skip an obstacle and to do 10 pushups or 20 squats. This also delivers the message that one can’t give up! Hopefully, they will adapt to this healthy lifestyle and it will set a discipline in their lives.”

There were no inhibitions amongst the participants whether youngsters or women and they were all treated equally in the race. To help them vitalize their sense and give them a taste of what was to come, Sports365 held training camps. The contestants were given proper training and prior knowledge about the race to ensure that nobody injured themselves on the field. Furthermore, there were real commandos who took part in the race just for fun. All in all, the day was filled with excitement, thrill and stimulating music, owing to the DJ and emcee at the venue. The spectators, friends and family members of the contestants cheered for the warriors and motivated them over the course of the race.  

The winners of the race received special goodies from the organizers as well as the recognition of being a worthy XWarrior. Moreover, the participants were also honored with souvenirs from merchandise partner Happily Unmarried and Nourish Organics to make them cherish the event all their lives and flaunt about their warrior status to their peers. Other than being a sports-centric event, it was also a place to meet new people with similar interest and form network.

The top 3 spots were taken by Commandos from the NSG.  The winner from these elite commando's finished the 4km course with 20 tough obstacles in 17 minutes and 14 seconds. However some of Delhi's fittest were not far behind with less than a minute separating them from the top commando's.

Sports365 doesn’t want this to be a standalone event – they would organizing many such marathons and races all over the country in coming months. They are especially enthusiastic to take the concept to other places after the success of the race in Delhi.
