By: Me N Jess World Water Day is upon us this week and author Patricia White is using her book "Me 'n Jess and an Irish Fisherman" to raise funds to help supply water to the mountain areas of Kenya and Ghana. Working with Rachael Paulson of HOW Global who already has done wonderful work in some of the difficult mountain areas of Africa, White wants to help. White wrote the book in 2001, and was in the process of finding a publisher when a movie project interrupted her. The book, which she has recently self-published is climbing the Amazon ladder. It's a story about love and adventure with a fun and independent dog named Jesse. "Half white German shepherd, half golden retriever, Jesse was all silly," says White. "People kept telling me that I needed to write a book about her." But she put it off until a horse trek in Ireland resulted in a tumble into love with an Irish Fisherman. So White went back to Ireland with the excuse of writing the book. She decided to incorporate the story of her dog with the story of how the book came to be, so the book is 2 stories intertwined. Because White (under her adopted name of DiVita) has been involved in water awareness and conservation using the movie that usurped the book ("Did I Say Thousand Island?" which has been seen all over the world), she decided to use the book to raise funds for water. "People like to read and buy books, so why not use it to raise money for those who don't even have fresh water to drink?" Amazon reviews have been favorable for the book so far, and White is encouraged. "Both men and women like the book, and even some younger adults have contacted me with praise for this fun and light read. It's about love in many ways, and also about travel and adventure: all without getting too personal." White states. "I get frustrated when I read a memoir and learn very private things that I didn't need or want to learn, that didn't have anything to do with the story, so I tried to keep away from that." The website water page (http://menjess.com/ The discounts are for Friday only, as a way to get people thinking about water. "It's not only about getting water to those who need it, it's about learning how to care for our own water and be mindful of ways to conserve and protect it. These days water is getting attention, but people need to change behaviors to make a difference and if those conservation ideas are in front of them enough, maybe it will happen." White says. There is a free list of the top ten ways to save water available on the website--including one about your dog's water. So grab your copy of Me 'n Jess, enjoy a fun story including some armchair travel, and help others at the same time! End
