Northeast Iowa Community College’s New Simulation Technology will Help Healthcare Learners Excel

EXTON, Pa. - March 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Exton, Pa. (March 20, 2013) Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) recently selected a state-of-the-art software solution to help manage the operations of their clinical simulation center, along with a comprehensive audio-video solution to capture simulation training lessons. This technology combines to allow faculty to address learners' competency through immediate debriefing, and give ongoing feedback to help address learning objectives.

The NICC Board of Trustees approved the use of Accelerated Career Education (ACE) funding for this new health simulation lab for use by healthcare learners at the college’s Calmar campus. Dr. Kathy Nacos-Burds, NICC vice president of academic affairs, believes the advanced health lab will provide learners with the opportunity to train on simulators using programmable scenarios that mirror true-to-life health and emergency care situations.

This new solution will give learners the opportunity to develop and refine their skills in a non-threatening environment, and help administrators to determine if learners can transfer skills they learned during simulation sessions to their work with actual patients. This advanced technology will refine communication skills and boost confidence when learners eventually have to make lifesaving decisions.
