NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - March 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Lobo Senior Safety Freddy Young, Jr opened eyes around the league with an impressive performance at the University of New Mexico Pro Day on March 7th in Albuquerque.
Young's official line was 19 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press, 39.5 vertical jump, 10'9.5" on the broad jump, 4.22 shuttle, 6.89 L Drill, 4.38 and 4.44 on the 40 yard dash. And to to top it off a 1.48 in the 10 yard split.
Compared to the NFL Combine results held in Indianapolis, Young's results were consistently in the top 3 or 4 in every category.
After not receiving an invite to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Young was determined to prove himself no matter what.
In front of a handful of scouts from the NFL & CFL and with his teammates and agent in attendance and cheering him on, he immediately set the tone of the day with his broad jump and vertical.
At the end of the day, scouts, teammates, family and friends were ecstatic about his performance and his official results.
Now it's time to REALLY focus on individual workouts with teams as the first of what should be many is this Friday in Albuquerque with scouts from the Chicago Bears visiting the UNM campus to see Freddy.
