March 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Easter is traditionally one of the two most-attended church holidays, usually marked with record attendance. But what about those who can’t – or won’t – step foot inside a church?

That won’t be a problem this Good Friday for members of Rock Church, who are taking the message of hope outside the church walls and into the heart of downtown San Diego. The Rock is planning to provide activities that will encourage and support those in need at the Park at Petco Park, while delivering a message of hope during lunch hour.

“We want to engage the community and be there to love and serve those in need,” emphasized Miles McPherson, Senior Pastor of Rock Church.  “Jesus wanted His people to be out loving other people. For every way a person can be lost, we want to help them be found.  We want to bring hope to every street and every person and to do that, we need to meet them where they are.”

Before and after McPherson’s message, the Rock’s outreach ministries plan to provide coupons and free haircuts and makeovers; share information about addictions and sexual abuse recovery, and provide comfort through resources, referrals, and prayer. Stations will be available to encourage individuals to send uplifting cards to military personnel.

An interactive youth area will also feature a skateboarding demo and a creative art workshop. Games, balloons and face painting will also be available.

Rock Church aims to collect 60 pints of blood, saving 180 lives, for Kaiser Permanente Hospitals; collect 2,000 lbs. of food for the San Diego Food Bank and 2 other organizations; and distribute 12,500 articles of gently used clothing to a local school and mission.
