WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - March 19, 2013 - PRLog -- WHITE PLAINS, NY – Kingdom Ridge Capital, LLC, an emerging long/short technology hedge fund, plans to attend the Cable Next-Gen IP Strategies: Entering the Zettabyte Era Conference that will be held March 19th at The Cable Center in Denver, Colorado.

“Kingdom Ridge analysts are always encouraged to attend industry conferences so they can better understand the long-term trends affecting technology customers,” said Brian Thonn, Director of Research for Kingdom Ridge Capital.  “While we do not invest in cable companies, the infrastructure development decisions cable firms make can have important implications on the technology companies that we do cover.”

The industry event will explore cable's continued deployment of Docsis 3.0 downstream and upstream capabilities as well as the development of next-generation access architectures and technologies such as Docsis 3.1, the Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP), EPON Protocol over Coax (EPoC) and Docsis Provisioning of EPON (DPoE).

Kingdom Ridge Portfolio Manager Chris Zepf added, “The emergence of Google Fiber along with continued competition from traditional satellite and telecommunication providers makes this a potentially interesting time for cable infrastructure suppliers.”

Google Fiber is a project that is offering super high speed (up to one gigabit/second) internet and high definition television to certain neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.  A recent study by the firm Ideas and Solutions found that Google Fiber could be highly disruptive to traditional cable providers with 60% of potential customers interested in the offering.
