WILLITS BYPASS "Start the Bypass Picket!" Moved up to Thursday 3-21-13
The Operating Engineers Local #3, the Laborers Local #324 and several other organizations will be participating in a "Start the Bypass" picket on Thursday March 21st 2013 from 11am-2pm in Willits. There will be a rally at Safeway parking lot followed by a march to demand that construction be allowed to start! Our message is simple STOP costing taxpayers thousands of dollars a day and let unemployed workers do their jobs! We will be asking Caltrans and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department to remove the unlawful trespassers and allow Caltrans to secure the jobsite. The Willits Bypass project will put hundreds of people to work in Mendocino County. Additionally, tens of millions of dollars will be injected into Willits and Mendocino’s local economy as this project moves forward. These dollars will lift the local economy while fixing a huge traffic and transportation problem for the whole North Coast Region. Over 2,000 acres of previously unprotected land will be put into open space that will be protected forever and the Willits Bypass will be built with as minimal impact as possible while reducing Green House Gas Emissions.
