March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Crowdfunding site StartSomeGood has upgraded its functionality and design to provide a more effective platform to connect social changemakers with the resources they need to execute their vision.

New features include a streamlined visual design, a revamped project creation dashboard, social sign-in functionality, non-Paypal credit card-based payment options, upgraded notifications and “following” features for campaign supporters, and an extensive campaign advice and resource section to help ventures promote their projects more effectively.

“We're excited to offer an even more compelling platform to all changemakers who want to create a better future for their communities,” said StartSomeGood co-founder Tom Dawkins. “Of course, the new site functionality will continue to be backed by our high-touch venture support service. So if you have an idea you believe in, and the drive to implement your plan, there's now nothing stopping you from creating the change you want to see.”

Since its launch in 2011, StartSomeGood has launched over 120 successful campaigns for ventures in 22 countries, applying the crowdfunding model that has proved so effective in creative industries to the fast-growing social innovation space.

Recent success stories include SMAC! Sock Monkeys Against Cancer, which raised $35,000 to fund a social enterprise, and popular roots-rock band Melodime, who raised over $30,000 to fund production of a new album, with proceeds providing musical instruments for at-risk youth.

Upcoming initiatives for 2013 include Dreamstarter, a groundbreaking collaboration with financial services leader ING Direct to provide start-up funding for young social entrepreneurs.
