FRESNO, Calif. - March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- On March 23, the Team AMVETS Thrift Store in Fresno will feature a very special archery demonstration headlined by 2012 Paralympics Champion Jeff Fabry. What makes Mr. Fabry such a “special” athlete is that he shoots his arrows with his mouth.  With no right leg or arm due to a motorcycle accident, it is especially challenging to excel at a sport that requires exceptional concentration and balance. Jeff Fabry accomplishes this feat by using a mouth tab to secure and release each arrow while holding the bow in his left hand and partially stabilizing it with his face. It is truly a sight to behold and can be experienced live on Saturday, March 23 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Team AMVETS Thrift Store in Fresno at 4125 E. Shields Avenue.

Live archery demonstrations will be at 10 AM and 2 PM and will also feature Veterans Martha Chavez and Larry Green plus members of the Freedom Archers™. As the reigning Paralympic Games Gold Medalist and a spokesman for Team AMVETS, Mr. Fabry is slated to do live demonstrations at other Team AMVETS Thrift Store locations in California. Coming from a family of Vets, he was unable to serve in the military due to his disability. With Jeff Fabry representing Team AMVETS the goal is to serve in another way by inspiring physically challenged Veterans and others to embrace their strengths and explore new opportunities. According to Mr. Fabry, “Off the field, I would like to assist other disabled individuals to experience the great sport of archery...Granted, not everyone will have the same interest in the sport I love, but it may help them discover another passion in their life.”

About Jeff Fabry:  In 1988, 15 year old Jeff Fabry lost a leg and an arm due to a tragic accident. To a typical teenager, a drastic life-changing event might be too much to handle, but young Mr. Fabry turned this extreme misfortune into a personal challenge. He picked up a bow in 1998 and has been steadily improving, finally reaching his goal by becoming a World Champion and winning the Gold Medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Now an official Paralympic Ambassador, Jeff travels the world hoping to inspire disabled Veterans and others with physical challenges. He lives in Lemoore, CA with his wife and two children and enjoys hunting and fishing.
