While the main concepts of ArchiMate focus primarily on describing the architecture of systems that support an enterprise, the motivation of design and operation of enterprise are addressed by the motivation extension. The motivation extension adds into ArchiMate concepts such as goal, principle and requirement. The extension is introduced to support requirements management, which is important in the process of designing and managing enterprise architecture.
The implementation and migration extensions add the concept of the implementation and migration of architecture. The extension supports project portfolio management, gap analysis, and transition and migration planning.
Agilian 10.1 supports the motivation extension as well as the implementation and migration extensions. Enterprise architects can perform Enterprise Architecture with the notations of the two new extensions defined in the ArchiMate 2.0 specification.
