Alternative Quartet to Perform At O2 Park Benefit for Cancer Survivors

KINDA, Trinidad & Tobago - March 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Alternative Quartet  will be on hand to electrify the stage at the newly renovated and redesigned O2 Park in Chaguaramas, Trinidad this weekend.

A press conference was held March 9, 2013 at 51 degrees in Port-of-Spain. The emcee was Natacha Jones. Speakers included Tony Chow Lin On of 96.1 WEFM and Cherise Couri. Freetown Collective performed one of their songs. Persons in attendance included Alternative Quartet, Machel Montano, Nadia Batson, Shurwayne Winchester, corporate sponsors, media and # LIV volunteers.

All the frenzy, pomp and circumstance surrounds the LIV Movement, to assist in humanitarian efforts to help cancer survivor Cherise Couri and others.

When "Alternative Quartet heard the news, they did what any other star quality entertainer would do, they decided to use their talent to help raise the funds needed to assist Cherise in her effort to LIV! They jumped at the invitation to support, that they might help make a difference.

So the question is: What Do You LIV For?

"I LIV for Hope, to fulfill my dreams, to make amazing memories and to inspire others...." - Cherise Laura Lee Couri.

“What do you LIV for?” That’s the question being asked by Cherise Couri as she seeks to raise money for surgery to remove two tumors from her liver.

A slender young woman with a broad smile and sparkling eyes, Cherise had suffered a Wilms tumor in her infancy, a form of cancer, which left her with only one kidney.

She spent months in treatment as a small girl—surgery, chemo and radiation—but eventually went into remission and lived “with minor health conditions” up until last year. Now Cherise is ill again—seriously ill, and in need of more surgery.

Three tumors have now appeared on Cherise's liver. Usually the adenomas are harmless and don’t grow, but unfortunately these are growing and multiplying.

This causes much pain and discomfort for the vibrant young and ambitious Cherise. She is currently awaiting surgery to remove two of the tumors on her liver so that she can live a pain free and healthier life. It is her wish, hope and prayer that she lives a normal and healthy life after this surgery.

The project evolved into # LIV THE CONCERT, an event on Sunday 17th March, which will be the official launch of the LIV movement and if successful will raise enough funds to assist Cherise and 2 others, as well as, set up the foundation to assist many more in the future.

• Machel Montano has donated an hour and a half concert, as well as, expertise to produce the entire show.

• Davy Boodoosingh has donated O2 amphitheater as well as sound and light system.

ALTERNATIVE QUARTET and other artistes, along with sponsors, have joined the group now known as “The LIV Army of Volunteers”.

The project has evolved, and steps are being taken to have this concert fund raiser registered as an official NGO, with the specific goal to raise funds to benefit many other cancer survivors.

LIV Concert, a fund raiser for Cherise and others, is scheduled to start at 4pm on March 17th at O2 Park in Chaguaramas.
