PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 15, 2013 - SYDNEY, Australia -- You can’t help but wonder if making a deal is really possible by cold calling a stranger. Let’s face it… who wants to discuss their business with someone they don’t know. I recently met Odile Faludi who runs Workshops on the subject of ‘Starting Customer Conversations’ in the heart of busy Bondi Junction, Sydney.

To her credit, in a long time, I haven’t met someone so passionate about getting back to basics. Picking up the phone and speaking to someone. Her goal is to give people back their confidence to get behind their brand and to start speaking  about it, without the fear of rejection. Odile clearly states, “A major deal usually won’t happen over the phone but the start of a relationship can; with good rapport, empathy and a will to want to know more.

That’s the beauty of starting customer conversations, eventually those ingredients, will lead to making a deal.” Odile candidly says, “I have had the experience of creating opportunities through cold calling within large organisations where appointments were made for C- suite executives enabling them to start those crucial conversations. The stakes were high and the results were equally impressive, resulting in a $500,000 piece of work being won. Incredible to think, the entry point was a humble cold call.”

Odile agrees with Gerry Harvey, Australian entrepreneur, executive chairman of Harvey Norman Holdings Ltd,  “Be plugged in” – “You have to spend time with every age group. If you just spend time with your own age group you lose your ability to think among different age groups. Being able to broaden yourself and plug in is essential to being successful in business; make yourself do things that you don’t want to do.” Odile says, “Most people don’t want to call, it’s their ego which is holding them back – the fear of the unknown, part of being a great communicator is being fearless and believing in yourself.”

Recently, a participant gave her feedback and this is the stuff that is sure to keep people talking about this course. "Your presentation was wonderful!  I was actually amazed at the level of detail you went into, and it's completely changed my perception of 'cold calling'.  As you pointed out, it's not just cold calling it's a complete research, development and relationship building programme. I'm in the process of typing up all my notes so that I can pass on your pearls of wisdom to my colleague . Thanks again for your support. Gillian."

Anyone who is keen to improve their communication skills, written or verbal and wants to learn how to Start Customer Conversations contact Odile. Why not organise your sales team to have their own private session. Next scheduled Workshop is 27th March, 2013 in Bondi Junction, Sydney.  Full details and course outline here
