Bob Costas To Receive Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award In Sports Broadcasting From WFUV Radio

Legendary broadcaster Bob Costas will receive the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting from WFUV Radio (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) on May 9 at Edison Ballroom in New York City. WFUV is a public radio station licensed to Fordham Univ.

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 15, 2013 - BRONX, N.Y. -- Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Bob Costas will receive the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting from WFUV Radio (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) on May 9 at Edison Ballroom in New York City, it was announced today by the public radio station, licensed to Fordham University.

Costas, the NBC Sports and MLB Network distinguished sports broadcaster, becomes the sixth recipient of the Scully Award, which will be presented at WFUV’s Sixth Annual Spring Gala. Costas has won 24 Emmy Awards, more than any other sportscaster, and the 2012 London Olympics were Bob’s tenth for NBC.  (Full biography at end of this release).

Scully, the iconic Voice of the Dodgers for 60 years, is a renowned Fordham graduate, and WFUV was his launch pad.  Past Scully Award winners include: inaugural recipient Scully (2008), Dick Enberg (2009), Ernie Harwell (2010), Pat Summerall (2011), and Al Michaels (2012).

Respected reporter, anchor and ABC News contributor Sam Donaldson will receive the Charles Osgood Lifetime Achievement Award in Broadcast Journalism; Rosanne Cash, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter-author, will receive  the “2013 Artist of the Year”; and The Agnes Varis Charitable Trust, established by Agnes Varis, supporting affordable access to the arts, education, and healthcare, will receive the Community Service Award.
