WIFL Announces It's First Five Franchises

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - March 15, 2013 - PRLog -- First of all we would like to thank everyone who came out for our press conference this morning. We must offer an apology for the delay and the circumstances. Our official who was scheduled to make our major announcement today has come down with the flu and was not able to attend today. So rather than have someone unprepared to make the announcement, we have chosen to use a printed press release and again we apologize to everyone who showed up and we thank you for coming out.

The WIFL will have a Florida division of franchises. This is our first division and we will have several others coming in the next several months. Our Florida division will consist of Tampa, Sarasota, Lakeland, Orlando and Miami. Teams will immediately begin hiring staff so they can get out in the community and begin what we hope will be a long, friendly relationship.

The WIFL will be seeking ownership groups that want to purchase these franchises. These locations were chosen because they have viable facilities to host a team and games within the division will be day trips and keep travel expenses lower for the franchise owners. It also creates an immediate rivalry between the teams and we expect to see some serious, hard hitting action when we take the field in March of next year.

Our fans have chosen several names for our franchises and we are going to continue that trend. Next week each franchise will have 5 names for fans to vote on for the name of each franchise. Some of those names will include some of those already chosen by our fans. The WIFL strongly believes in its fan base and everything we do will be fan interactive.

We have several announcements coming up next week and the league continues to move forward. We hope to announce our new league President on Monday or Tuesday, fan voting for the names of the Florida franchises will being on one of those days as well, and on Wednesday we will be introducing our interim Commissioner.

We will be having our Florida tryout on May 4th in Lakeland and as this will be our only Florida tryout, all female athletes in the state are encouraged to attend the tryout as these roster spots will be offered first to anyone attending the tryout. Pre registration can be done on www.wiflfootball.com and anyone needing overnight accommodations will be set up with a discount at any area Wyndham hotel.

Also don’t forget that a portion of the registration fees for the Lakeland tryout will be donated to the Florida SPCA.
