Nneka live at the Legendary Apollo Theater

IKOYI, Nigeria - March 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The Apollo Theater in New York is partnering with the World Music Institute to present ‘Africa Now’. Africa Now is a weekend festival taking place at The Apollo and the festival aims to showcase Today’s African music scene.

The concert will bring together on one stage African artistes whose music range from Hip-hop to Afro beat, to Pop to folk and more. It is going to be a blow-out concert event on the legendary Apollo stage and it features a powerful Line up of African artistes who have drawn upon their roots for inspiration and transplanted them onto the global music landscape.

Nigerian-German soul songstress Nneka, who has been described by the New York Times as ‘a petite firebrand with serious intentions’ is one of the African Artiste that has been selected to showcase her music on the legendary Apollo theatre stage. On the 16th of March 2013, she will join the likes of Freshlyground, Lokua Kanza and more on stage for the Africa Now concert.

The hip-hop/soul songstress will draw on reggae, blues, folk and rap in her voice of protest and struggle. The Festival promises to be one showcasing different musical inspirations for the audience to draw from.
