Follow on Google News | DLF Foundation expands its skill programmes in SouthBy: lexicon pr As a part of this initiative, DLF Foundation has recently launched two centres in Karnataka- Chikaballapur & Bangalore. The Chikaballapur centre which has been launched in collaboration with Laurus Edutech was inaugurated by Shri Veerappa Moily, Hon. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Bangalore centre has been launched in partnership with Labournet and was inaugurated by GK Ravi, Ex-Zilla Panchayat Chairman, Gottigere. Lauding the extensive endeavors undertaken by DLF Foundation at the centre launch at Chikaballapur, Shri Veerappa Moily, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas said, “As per the Union Budget 2013-14, National Skill Development Corporation plans to train 5 crore people in current plan period and an amount of 1,000 crore has been earmarked to accelerate the pace and quality of skill development in India. Initiatives and support by private players like DLF Foundation will surely give an impetus to skill-development among unemployed and job-seeking youth and also stress on the important role that Corporate Social Responsibility plays in helping to realize the national mission of comprehensive growth and empowerment of the deprived sections of society. Sharing his views on the new initiatives, Lt. General Rajender Singh (Retd.), CEO, DLF Foundation said, “It’s high time that we realize the need to fill the glaring gap between what is taught in institutions and the actual industry requirements in terms of skilled man-power. Skill-development and boosting employability among the youth is a vital component of the ambitious vision of our Chairman Mr. K.P. Singh which aims at empowering communities through education, training and nurturing talent. This initiative focuses on training the candidates thus significantly increasing their employability status through job-oriented professional skill training.” Ms. Gayatri Paul, Associate Director- Programmes, Head of the Skill Development Department of DLF Foundation stated “This new skill-development centres that we have been launching across the country is a part of the DLF Foundation’s aim to establish 250 Skill Training Centres across the country to provide quality training and certification for employment. DLF Foundation has successfully established the first 25 centers. I am sure that this employment linked training will enable the unskilled youth to attain the industry required skill sets and pave the way for India’s economic growth,” End
