“RuPaul Roast” stars the remaining seven queens in their ravishing pursuit of becoming America’s next fabulous drag queen while snatching the tantalizing grand prize, including: a lifetime supply of Colorevolution Cosmetics, a one of a kind trip, courtesy of AlandChuck.Travel, the honor of headlining the drag race tour featuring Absolute Vodka; cocktails perfected, and a “cash money honey” prize of $100,000.
The library is open as the episode kicks off with RuPaul’s Mini Challenge, “Reading is Fundamental”
In perfect preparation of what is to come, this opening activity gears the queens up for the main event of the night, the “RuPaul Roast”. In this main challenge, each girl must “read” Ru, along with special guest judges, Leslie Jordan and Absolut Vodka’s Jeffrey Moran as well as each other. This task proves to be difficult as girls dance along the fine line of what is funny, and what may be going too far. To help the women prepare for the roast, Ru brings in famous comedians, Nadya Ginsburg, Deven Green, and Bruce Vilanch who will put the queens through comedy bootcamp, giving them pointers before their big debut.
On the big night and in front of a live audience, the queens joke about Ru’s age and singling abilities, amongst other touchy subjects. Some divas go about it in a funny, appropriate way, and others just flop. But Coco Montrese’s delivery while in character as RuPaul’s “hood rat cousin” puts her one step above the rest and she is crowned winner of the challenge. On the opposite end, Alyssa Edwards and Roxxxy Andrews’ lackluster jokes land them in the bottom two and they are left to lip sync for their lives. With both women passionately lip-syncing their hearts out, Ru feels that both deserve to stay. No one is eliminated on this touching episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
In addition to Colorevolution being featured throughout the 5th season of RuPaul's Drag Race; IBG Laboratories, the makers of Colorevolution, is collaborating with RuPaul on specialized private label items that will be coming in 2013.
