PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 14, 2013 - MINNEAPOLIS -- Scarletta is announcing the publication of their spring 2013 kid’s books. This season highlights two picture books, Nalah and the Pink Tiger and A Day at the Lake, and a storybook, Betsy’s Day at the Game.

Scarletta Kids was established in March 2012 as an imprint to Scarletta. Through whimsical illustrations and engaging stories, Scarletta’s quality books provide creative ways for children to learn life skills and discover the world around them. Each of Scarletta’s spring kid’s books meets the Common Core State Standards for reading & listening, vocabulary acquisition & use, and foundational skills.

On March 12 meet the colorful, noisy, and messy animals that populate Nalah and the Pink Tiger [978-1-938063-00-8 (tr)], written and illustrated by Anne Sawyer-Aitch. In this vibrant picture book, Nalah is a rambunctious little girl who lives so intensely in her imagination that grown-ups view her as a troublemaker. Things come to a head when, in addition to all the exotic animals that Nalah has “placed” in the house, a pink tiger “follows” her home from the zoo. Not only is Nalah and the Pink Tiger a book, it’s a full puppet show presented in both English and Spanish by the author, and is a storybook app now available in the iTunes App Store. “Open any page and you’ll hear the story calling your own imagination to stretch as wide as Nalah’s!” (—Debra Fraiser, author)

Celebrate the first day of spring on March 20 with A Day at the Lake [978-1-938063-03-9 (tr)], written by Stephanie Wallingford & Dawn Rynders and illustrated by Erica Pelton Villnave. This charming story thumps, bumps, flips, and zips as it follows three children through the simple pleasures and rare glimpses that natures offers us around the lake. With fun and bright illustrations, A Day at the Lake is told using all five senses, and teaches children vowels, onomatopoeia, and rhyming. This book is great for kids ages 2 to 6 and is “…a perfect story to read with your little ones.” (—ForeWord This Week, Staff Pick)

Betsy’s Day at the Game [978-1-938063-01-5 (tr)], written by Greg Bancroft and illustrated by Katherine Blackmore, pubs on April 9 and arrives just in time to kick off baseball season. In this heartwarming story for 6- to 10–year-olds, Betsy loves going to the ballpark with her grandfather. At today’s game, Betsy shows off her scorekeeping skills, and as the excitement grows in the stadium, Betsy keeps track of it all. The book comes complete with a scorecard and scoring instructions. More scorecards are available for download on Scarletta’s website. Scarletta is working with the St. Paul Saints, a hometown baseball team, because this “…is a sweet story about family tradition and the art of keeping score.” (—Kurtis Scaletta, author)

Scarletta couldn’t be more excited to publish these books. The public is invited to enjoy these three titles and more at launch events around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Information about upcoming events can be found on the Scarletta Facebook fan page.
