Follow on Google News | Sign Up Time for Simi YMCA Summer CampsThe Simi Valley Family YMCA is taking signups for its summer camp program, which run from June 17 through August 16. Parents can sign up their children full time or part time, for specific weeks or for the entire summer.
By: Simi Valley Family YMCA "The YMCA is synonymous with summer camp," says Stacey Huff, Simi Y's senior program director. "Our camps are full of fun and are designed to provide a positive experience in a safe environment. Camp is an opportunity to be creative, learn new skills, build self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills. Our camp staff serves as positive role models." Simi YMCA camps are divided by age group ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade. Each of the nine weeks of camp has a theme. Camps for older kids go on daily field trips to amusement parks and to the beach. Other camps offer non-traveling activities only or go on weekly field trips. "Parents have their choice based on their needs," says Huff. The Simi Valley Y is also offering an away camp at Camp Oakes in Big Bear. The dates are July 6 through July 13. Some of the camp activities include horseback riding, dance, zip line, arts and crafts, climbing wall, disc golf, canoeing, volleyball, riflery, field games, archery, campfire, horseshoes and swimming. Extended care is included. Financial aid is available. To find out more or to sign up for summer camp programs at the Simi Family YMCA, call 805-583-5338 or go to http://www.sevymca.org/ End
