Jazz Show for a Good Cause: Kids in Crisis
This fundraiser will help support organizations and programs which are child-focused. The Empowerment Center, a New York-based 501(c)3 organization, is receiving donations to provide free and affordably priced concerts in parks, schools, community centers, faith-based organizations and other easily accessible venues to educate children in age-appropriate language to successfully manage critical challenges such as resisting child predators or navigating encounters with bullies. Services (and goodie bags) provided to children also include education and psycho-social support for those who have experienced or witnessed trauma such as human trafficking, violence, abuse, serious illness (e.g., hospice), homelessness and catastrophic loss.
The show will feature a silent auction (tax-deductible donation receipts provided by The Empowerment Center: http://www.theempowermentcenter.org). (If this link does not work, please call 914-699-5036 and reference Janelle’s Metropolitan Room show.)
Jazz Artists
Ray Blue, tenor sax • Warren Chiasson, vibes • Marc Daine, guitar • Keith Ingham, piano • Bernard Purdie, drums • Mike Weatherly, bass • Janelle Allbritton, vocals
This show brings together an incredible group of men. They have made their marks on the international jazz scene for a collective total of a few hundred years and counting. Original songs by Warren Chiasson, Marc Daine, & Janelle will be featured.
There are interesting musical relationships among these performers: for example, Bernard Purdie and Warren Chiasson were together in the original Broadway production of “Hair;” Keith Ingham and Warren Chiasson both worked with Peggy Lee.
