Follow on Google News | New Website ‘HeadCrack’ Offers Free Courses in Career EducationEnrollment is now open on HeadCrack.org, a new web-based education platform offering free courses in career education.
By: Community Care College “We are excited about the launch of the HeadCrack curriculum,” HeadCrack is a service of Community Care College, a nationally accredited and state licensed institution based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Using a sophisticated learning management system, the course content is delivered in a robust fashion with an emphasis on courses leading to entry-level employment. The goal of the initiative is to plant the seed of learning to those that have not had an opportunity to take college courses in a real online college community. The website gives these students a true taste of the college experience, using the same technology that a paid college student would benefit from. HeadCrack was developed as an answer to an ever evolving, technological world. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are revolutionizing the future of the education industry, redefining the where, when and who of higher education. “Although HeadCrack is in its infancy, we believe that providing free education can empower people to change their lives for the better,” said Teresa Knox, CEO of Community Care College. “By creating classes that not only provide content, but also support a community of engagement, students have the opportunity to learn anytime, anywhere. There is no longer a “one size fits all” model of teaching or learning thanks to technology.” HeadCrack saw its beginnings in the fall of 2012, with the initial launch of a free GED prep course. The course saw 200 enrollments in the soft launch and the site has now expanded to offer courses that train students in the food and customer service industries and will eventually expand to include courses in medical and business fields, as well as some more skilled trade courses, such as dog grooming and oil change technology. More online courses are offered through Community Care College’s Ed2Go. Separate from HeadCrack, these continuing education courses cost an average of $99 and are in an array of subjects from Accounting and Finance to Writing and Publishing.
