Blerdology Announces #BlackHack Newark Charity Hackathon and Tech Weekend April 4-7

Minority tech social enterprise teams with the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development at Rutgers Business School, MailChimp, Brick City Development Corp & Initiative Consulting Group to benefit the Center for Collaborative Change
 
NEWARK, N.J. - March 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Blerdology, the premier provider of minority-focused hackathons, is pleased to announce the next installation of its signature hackathon series #BlackHack in Newark, NJ April 6-7 at the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development at Rutgers Business School. The charity event will rally MailChimp, Brick City Development Corp, and Initiative Consulting Group to close a 4-day tech weekend to raise funds for the Center for Collaborative Change (CCC) and promote high-growth entrepreneurship among Brick City residents and beyond.  

#BlackHack Newark will bring together minority coders and developers to build new and innovative apps and websites overnight in a friendly competitive format. #BlackHack attendees are exposed to a wealth of industry insights and business consulting and have the opportunity to get their resumes in the hands of top tech corporations. Building projects on site for little to no cost, #BlackHacks are a novel way for budding entrepreneurs to get their projects off the ground and an unmatched opportunity to network, meet, and recruit top minority tech talent from around the region. Admission for the event is free, however participants are encouraged to make donations for CCC, an organization that engages local community members and assists civic leadership in developing policies and programs to accelerate Newark’s revitalization through an inclusive process.

The tech weekend will bringing together private, public and government organizations from around the city for a celebration of innovation set to kick off on April 4 with TEDxNJIT (http://tedxnjit.com/register). The following day will include a youth STEM session, a policy discussion on the future of Newark tech and a Newark Tech Happy Hour (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fnewarktechhappyh...), co-sponsored by TEDxNJIT and Brick City Tech, at Loft 47 from 5-8pm.
