Follow on Google News | Dolphin Micro Developing New Logic Game Aimed at Teaching Kids to ProgramWeb developers at Colorado-based Dolphin Micro are taking on an exciting new challenge with their educational game, BotLogic.us.
By: Dolphin Micro Dolphin Micro, which primarily provides web solutions for other businesses, has recently entered the web application market. The company’s debut app, a time-tracking tool, was released in 2012. The BotLogic.us concept was one of three selected for an internal competition to determine Dolphin Micro’s next project. “As we thought about what to build in 2013, we wanted to engage our whole team, challenging them to think about what a successful product might look like,” explains CEO Eric Scott. “We decided to let everyone have a shot at conceptualizing, prototyping and promoting their ideas. We’ll ultimately throw our resources behind the concept that shows the most early market potential.” The company’s developers were divided into three teams, each of which was tasked with fleshing out its app idea in the form of a “pre-launch” “It’s becoming more and more important for kids to learn to code,” says developer Brad Wedell. “Recently, I discovered the sites code.org and codeschool.com – sites that make learning to code fun and interactive – and the concept for BotLogic.us hit me like a ton of bricks. The idea of enabling the next generation of programmers to learn the tools and techniques to solve everyday challenges creatively using technology would be a pleasure and an honor.” Project manager Donald Seigler is also optimistic about the project. “We want to win this competition, and we really think we can do it. We’ve seen a lot of enthusiasm already – parents seem to love the idea of a game that will hold their kids’ attention while teaching them valuable skills. But we are really going to need their support in order to make BotLogic.us a reality.” Those interested can learn more about the team’s plans for BotLogic.us and show their support by entering their email addresses at http://botlogic.us.
