Rising Political Star, Justin G. Tanner to Receive Tripod Foundation Excellence in Leadership Award

Mr. Justin G. Tanner will receive this year’s Excellence in Leadership award from the Tripod Foundation Inc. on Saturday, April 13, 2013.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, D.C. - March 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Justin currently works as a legislative analyst for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and plays a key role on the mayor’s intergovernmental affairs team.  Working in conjunction with the city’s strategic partners/community stakeholders, he helps to advance its interests at the Georgia General Assembly. He also works to help foster relationships on all levels of government.

Justin will be honored along with the Foundation’s scholarship recipients at this year’s annual banquet, a luncheon hosted at Clyde’s at Gallery Place on Saturday April 13, 2013.

“We are thrilled to acknowledge the legacy of leadership exhibited by this year’s “Excellence in Leadership” Award recipient, Justin G. Tanner,” says Scholarship Awards banquet Chairwoman Erika McDaniel.

Not only is Justin a key member of the Mayor of Atlanta’s office but he also worked tirelessly in raising money for the re-election of President Barack Obama.  Through his fundraising efforts, he raised over five hundred thousand dollars for the campaign and was one of the youngest people in Georgia to do so.  During the President’s 2012 campaign, he served as a National Co-Chair for Generation Forty-Four and the African-American Leadership Council. Locally, he is a Board Member of the Red Clay Democrats and serves as the Political Chair of Young Democrats of Atlanta.  Justin Tanner is also a graduate of Howard University and holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.  In addition to his efforts in the political arena, he also works as a mentor for the youth and works with many non-profits.

Co-Founder of the Tripod Foundation Inc. Lloyd Freeman, Esq. says, “Justin epitomizes leadership and it is befitting that we’ll honor him at our luncheon.  I cannot think of another young leader that inspires service in the public interest as much as Justin.  His career and volunteer work is most admirable—from fundraising with President Obama to working with the Atlanta Urban League-yet, he remains humble.  His keynote address is sure to be uplifting and powerful; I am so glad that our scholarship students will get a chance to hear him speak.”
