Waterbury Regional Chamber's Health Care Council's "Affordable Care Act" Program March 28

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 12, 2013 - WATERBURY, Conn. -- “The Affordable Care Act and Access Health CT: How Your Business Will Be Affected” will be the topic Thursday, March 28 of the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Health Care Council (HCC) breakfast. Open to businesses throughout the region, the informative program will be held from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center at 1075 Chase Parkway in Waterbury. “This is the fourth in the Health Care Council’s informational seminar programs on healthcare reform in the United States,” stated Loraine Shea of Waterbury Hospital, chair of the Health Care Council. “This program will provide a general overview of the Affordable Care Act as it relates to Access Health CT (formerly known as the CT Health Insurance Exchange), which becomes operational on October 1, 2013.”

The March 28th program will provide information on how a small employer can provide health insurance for its employees through the exchange. The program will also include a progress update on the status of Access Health CT and an explanation of the various levels of coverage provided through this Exchange.

Presenters of the program will be Peter Van Loon, COO of Access Health CT (formerly known as the CT Health Insurance Exchange), and Mark F. Williams, Counsel, Carmody & Torrance LLP. Current COO of Access Health CT, Van Loon most recently worked at Cigna. He also worked at Aetna as a consultant in the IT sector, and spent a recent year in Afghanistan and Africa with the Reserves. Van Loon has performed duties as an overseas combat and logistics leader while a Captain in the United States Navy.

Mark F. Williams is Counsel in the labor and employment group of Carmody & Torrance LLP. His practice includes all aspects of employee benefits, including both tax and ERISA issues that arise in connection with employee benefit plans. Currently he is focusing on the Affordable Care Act’s impact on employers.
