WHY: Diet-related chronic diseases are now a serious global public health problem. Health disparities remain widespread among members of racial and ethnic minority populations. Traditional-style soul foods along with fast foods have been blamed for the abnormally high rates of high blood pressure, diabetes, certain cancers and heart disease by African Americans. The film Soul Food Junkies can be used as a resource to advocate for programs, regulations, and policies that serve to eliminate health disparities disproportionately affecting the African American community.

Promotion: We want to fill up the Lyric Theatre which seats 500+ people. Our web site (http://sustainlex.org/) has Soul Food Junkies' resource materials.
