Follow on Google News | UAT Network Gets a Facelift for 2013The University of Advancing Technology (UAT) network guts have been given an upgrade to make the network lines faster and more reliable.
The University also purchased a new Edge router and new firewall to help the networks operate more efficiently. These additions will reduce the bottlenecking of information at the firewall that had been occurring prior to the switch. VMView users should find their connections operating at a faster rate, as will any other connections coming and going from UAT. While the increase in bandwidth should reduce the chance of any outages; there is a backup plan in place—border gateway protocol (BGP), a redundant-failover option that will keep the networks running smoothly with no interruption in service. For example, if the network to Founder’s Hall and Scytale were to fail, it will automatically piggyback off the network to the main building and heighliner until IT is able to rectify the problem. Additionally, UAT is now able to upgrade the phones to use VOIP. This will allow for great access to call statistics and the ability to monitor and improve calls. UAT is proud to upgrade and offer some of the best technology in the market.
