SALINAS, CA – On May 3-5, 2013, the National Steinbeck Center presents its 33rd Annual Steinbeck Festival to take place at 1 Main Street in Salinas, California with tours and activities in locations that so inspired John Steinbeck’s writing.
The chosen theme for this year is ‘Home,’ taking you to unique locations like Marks’ Ranch off Highway 68 for an afternoon barbecue, and indulging you in a beer-tasting feast with Steinbeck themed foods in Cannery Row.
Be astounded when our Steinbeck scholar in residence Susan Shillinglaw reveals secrets about John Steinbeck’s life and wives and engage your senses with award winning playwright Octavio Solis whose talent has bestowed him international recognition.
One of the tours will take you to Ricketts’ Lab for a private look at this place filled with history. In addition, an array of tours will be offered throughout the 3-day weekend to explore the places and people Steinbeck wrote about in his books.
The 33rd Annual Steinbeck Festival is ‘Old Home Week’ for Steinbeck lovers from across the world and down the street. John Steinbeck was born, raised and buried in the town of Salinas, California that is now home to the National Steinbeck Center. This is a great opportunity for all to celebrate the communities of Salinas and beyond.
