“We've seen a steady increase in the number of international investors who choose to put their money in the Canadian market because of its stability,” Napiontek explained. “Other economies are unstable, but our housing prices have remained steady, our rents are increasing and our economy is growing.”
Colliers International's 2012 Global Investor Sentiment Survey proves that Napiontek's experience with more international investors is not an isolated incident. Among those surveyed in December 2012, foreign investors said a Canadian investment focus is second only to the depressed U.S. market. Competition between foreign and domestic investors has begun to intensify as available properties become harder to find, according to survey results. The convention may be the best place for those with real estate portfolios to learn how to buy effectively in a competitive market.
The BC International Real Estate Convention is open to the public and professionals who are active or potential investors in residential and commercial Canadian real estate. The annual gathering is geared toward developers, realtors, municipalities, financial institutions, insurance agencies, professional associations and others in the market.
