Latino Festival Tickets Now on Sale, Performance Schedule Announced.

Ormond Beach, Fla. – Oscar Ciccone, a seasoned festival organizer and theater director from Argentina, is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for “Festival Latino,” the first-ever Latin performance festival to take place in Central Florida. The performance schedule has also been released.

Set to take stage starting Sept. 17th at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, with the center’s Marc Schwartz as managing director, this event will offer a cultural experience unique to the region with talented and prominent professional performers hailing directly from Argentina, Puerto Rico, Columbia and Cuba.

“Festival Latino” is a project born in New York City, produced by The New York Shakespeare Festival and renowned Broadway producer Joseph Papp, under the direction of Oscar Ciccone and Cecilia Vega. For more than 11 years, Festival Latino was an artistic and cultural event in New York City that had a great impact on the area’s Latino community and in the general public.

With these 11 years of experience and strong relationships with these performance groups, Ciccone is excited for its launch into Volusia County.

The shows will consist of everything from Tangokinsis, the world-famous Tango dance from Argentina to theatrical performances from the “Teatro La Candelaria” in Columbia with the play “El Quijote,” an adaptation from the Don Miguel de Cervantes creation.

Other festival highlights include performances by Daisy Granados, a famous Cuban actress who has appeared in more than 35 films since 1964. Daisy Granados will present the play, "Diatriba de Amor Frente a un Hombre Sentado," written by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

The festival will close with "Quien mato a Hector Lavoe,” a performance from Puerto Rico with song, dance, and a live orchestra.
