Using the popular crowdfunding site, Kickstarter, a Seoul, South Korea based team of creative individuals and engineers is seeking to raise a total of $200,000. Kickstarter is a platform that allows for users to back products and teams that they believe in.
The campaign, set for a duration of 30 days, will attempt to raise funds to put the Prizm into mass production. But, importantly, it will also help the company connect to its most enthusiastic users.
“Kickstarter is a great way for entrepreneurs and artists to raise money,” said Sean Kang, one of the project’s lead developers, “but it’s also a great way to get in touch with the community of people who will be using your product.”
Currently live on Kickstarter.com, Prizm features a 5” touchscreen as well as built-in temperature, humidity, and occupancy sensors. It supports the popular Z-Wave home networking protocol used by hundreds of the world’s leading manufacturers. Ms. Jeong-nam Kim, a recipient of Korea’s 2010 Presidential Good Design Award and the 2011 red dot design award, is responsible for its unique design.
