March 9, 2013 - PRLog -- March 9, 2013, Southgate, MI— The Downriver Community Federal Credit Union (DCFCU) is hosting its 6th Annual Downriver Small Business Conference on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Southgate Banquet & Conference Center.  This is an all-day training event designed to provide business professionals with the sales, service, and marketing tools they need to grow their business.

“We were seeing a lot of people who were having a difficult time back in 2007 and we were looking for a way to provide the tools and opportunities for them to make a difference for their own future,” says Mark Tremper, the Credit Union’s Vice President of Business Services, “So we hosted our very first conference back in February 2008 as a way to help people grow their business in the middle of a challenging economic environment.”

Over the years, the conference has featured many locally-, nationally-, and internationally-known speakers.  Through sponsorships by various local businesses, the cost is held low so that anyone who wants to grow their business, regardless its current size, can afford to come.  The Registration fee of $25 includes all the conference workshops, a conference gift bag, notebook, continental breakfast, and buffet lunch.  Those who wish to attend the conference can find all the details and Registration Form at www.DownriverCommFCU.com.

This year’s speakers include Lisa Mininni (Best-Selling Author, Radio Show Host, and President of Excellerate Associates), Terry Bean (Author, Speaker, and “Attraction Hero”), Ross Champion (Actor and Entertainer), Greg Peters (Trainer, Author, Coach, and Founder of The Reluctant Networker), and Cynthia Grubbs (Speaker, Coach, and Representative of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation).

The conference schedule provides attendees an excellent opportunity to learn some practical tips for growing their business as well as time between workshops to catch up on e-mails, network with other attendees, review books and services available for purchase, and visit sponsor display tables.  Past attendees have found that this event is well worth the time away from their normal daily activities to “recharge their batteries” and invest in the growth of their business.

The benefits provided to Downriver businesses as a result of this annual conference have continued all year-round through the Credit Union’s Grow Your Business Workshop Series.  According to Tremper, “The first conference went so well, we decided to host a monthly workshop so that people could continue to improve themselves and learn new skills to grow their business.”  Both the conference and the workshops are a way for the Credit Union, a not-for-profit organization, to help both its members and the local community.
