Recovery? Sure. But it's still tough for good causes in Vegas. Companies want to help, to do the right thing, though resources remain tight.
Here’s something a little different: E Bunny doesn’t want your money; just a few Easter baskets. How tough is that?
We all know that beyond the glitz, thousands of Vegas children live impoverished lives; many homeless, in temporary housing and shelters. Over two decades, E Bunny has found the way to kids’ hearts with more than 30,000 baskets.
Each year, the 23-year old grass-roots outreach delivers baskets, smiles and hope to homeless and disadvantaged kids… many who don’t have much else to smile about.
To help that happen, as the need grew bigger (and the market smaller) since 2008, local businesses got creative. Just last year, Lotus Broadcasting held remotes at Walgreens throughout the Valley, collecting 750 baskets for kids in need. Wells Fargo is consistently there, through their Community Outreach team; doing what it takes to help E Bunny with hundreds of baskets.
Station Casinos' Community Spirit Team has been there, too, for EBunny; as has Creative Kids Learning Centers. The Nevada Foreign Trade Zone (NITCO) has volunteered to be E Bunny's basket central, for nearly a decade. Big or small, businesses have always understood the need, and found a way.
It's that time again.
E Bunny is asking the local business community to help with baskets needed for kids at Las Vegas City Mission, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Casa De Luz, Family Promise, Straight from the Streets, Clark County Social Services, Children’s Hospital of Nevada (UMC), State of Nevada Family Services, Safe House and HELP of Southern Nevada.
E Bunny asks donations of pre-packaged Easter baskets, big or small, like those you see at groceries, drugstores, or retail stores. They appreciate the love that goes into handmade baskets; but store baskets are better built to stay intact during handling and travel. No money; only baskets that EBunny will deliver directly to the kids.
Inspire others to help; get associates, family, friends and neighbors involved. Encourage an employee basket drive at your company. And, volunteer to help hands on, if you can.
On board with E Bunny? Let us know, and deliver baskets by March 22nd to The Nevada Foreign Trade Zone, 6650 Spencer Street, #110 (near the airport,) or Opportunity Village's Project Enable will be happy to pick them up!
