Follow on Google News | Safer Systems to Provide Real-Time "Lifesaving" Data During ACTA Emergency Drill in Vernon, CASAFER Systems will participate in the 11th Annual ACTA Emergency Drill by providing real-time “lifesaving” data to local First Responder agencies and rail companies using their patented solution, SAFER HazMat Responder™.
By: SAFER Systems SAFER HazMat Responder™ will aid the Incident Commander during the critical moments following the incident by providing real-time plume models which utilize live data from an array of meteorological and chemical sensors and overlays a GIS map with the rendered plume. The data generated by SAFER HazMat Responder™ during this exercise will be used to determine accurate evacuation and shelter in place zones as well as visualize safe routes for first responders to approach the incident. Following the event, SAFER HazMat Responder™ will be utilized to run a series of reports ranging from size of the impact area to the amount of chemical released. This is possible because every piece of data collected by a SAFER System is stored for future retrieval. SAFER HazMat Responder™ is the industry standard when it comes to emergency management of a chemical release. With patented plume modeling algorithms, SAFER is able to give incident commanders and first responders the instantaneous situational awareness they need to protect lives within the plant site and throughout their neighboring community. The local agencies and companies that will be participating in the drill are SAFER Systems, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), Vernon Fire Department, Compton Fire Department, Compton Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriffs, Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF Railway, and representatives of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA). Every year SAFER HazMat Responder™ and SAFER Systems’ staff are praised broadly as key components in understanding the impact of the event and for helping to continue to educate the first responders about the capability of the Railroads. SAFER Systems uses the ACTA drill as a training event for its own staff as well and it has become a tradition for new staff to attend the drill. Established in 1981 and celebrating over 30 years of providing technological advancements in the field of chemical emergency management to both industry and government, SAFER Systems is the global technology leader in chemical emergency management solutions.
