“It was heartbreaking to discover these dogs in the situation we found them in,” said Dori Scofield, Founder/President of Save-A-Pet. “Even though they were imprisoned in filthy conditions, starving, and riddled with sores, they greeted us with wagging tails. That’s the amazing thing about this breed and something that most people don’t understand. Aside from being resilient, they respond so positively to love and proper treatment.”
All four severely malnourished dogs were taken to Save-A-Pet, where they are being treated for internal parasites, external sores, whipworm, hookworm, roundworm, giardia, coccidia and tapeworm. One of the dogs has been diagnosed with heartworm and will undergo treatment for it shortly. The dogs are all under three years of age and were given the names Blarney (the male), Clover, Shamrock, and Patty, in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
“Luck shone down on these dogs, by helping us find and rescue them,” continued Ms. Scofield. “But if you ask me, I think we are the lucky ones. These are wonderful dogs that have touched our lives here at Save-A-Pet. They all deserve a forever home as soon as they receive a clean bill of health.”
The “Fab Four,” as Save-A-Pet has dubbed them, will be available for adoption (http://www.saveapetli.net/
