PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 7, 2013 - Most longboard and skateboard riders have experienced meeting the pavement, and have the scars to prove it.  But collisions with cars are far more serious and often deadly.  Car drivers just don't expect something that appears to be a pedestrian, at first glance, to come at them so fast.  And when it’s getting dark, riders are virtually invisible until it is too late.  There's a bright new light to make longboards and skateboards far more visible day and night called the BOARDLIGHT™.  Front and rear lights fit any longboard and are bright enough to be seen half a mile away.  With a bright light on the board, drivers recognize something that deserves attention.  To begin production, the BOARDLIGHT™ needs your support by backing the project on Kickstarter.com, now through April 18.

Longboards and skateboards have become a popular means of transportation in this day of high gas prices.  And downhill is a thrilling sport that is growing worldwide.  These boards share the sidewalks with people and the roads with cars.  For everyone's safety, they need to be noticed.  Nothing says, "Here I am" like a bright flashing light.  Like cyclists, who have learned to use lights to be seen, boarders need a convenient light that will draw attention and be seen from a distance.  The BOARDLIGHT™ fills that need.

The BOARDLIGHT™ is designed to fit any longboard.  It can be mounted to the bottom, on either side of the trucks without modifying the board.  It can also be mounted on the top, a great choice for drop down boards.  The bracket fits old school and new bolt patterns.

Far more convenient to use than other lighting options, the BOARDLIGHT™ can be easily removed at any time.  Once the simple bracket is installed on existing bolts, the light itself can be taken on and off quickly.  No modifications are needed to the board.  No added risers to change your ride.  No expensive, hard to find coin cell batteries.  No more strapping or taping flashlights and headlamps to your deck or your trucks.  Just a sleek, small, super bright light, specially made for longboards, that slips on and off when you want.  A simple pushbutton selects on, off, or flash.  A single inexpensive AA battery is easily replaced without tools.

Using the latest surface mount technology, an electronic boost circuit drives 3 high-brightness LEDs at constant brightness for the entire life of the battery.  To save the owners money, the light uses a single AA battery, the least expensive battery available, by far, per mAh (milliamp-hour, a measure of a battery's capacity).

The BOARDLIGHT™ needs all of the longboarding community -- shops, skaters, and creators -- to come together and support innovation.  As you will see in the project video, a longboarding group has been using the BOARDLIGHT™, but to make it widely available, the BOARDLIGHT™ is seeking funding on Kickstarter.  As a reward for pledging support, you can choose to receive a BOARDLIGHT™ as soon as it is produced, basically pre-ordering.  Learn more and pledge support now through April 18 at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/406188779/removable-l... .
