March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- On March 23, 2013 at 4pm, Baterbys Art Gallery (http://www.baterbys.com/), voted Best Art Gallery for two consecutive years by thousands of Orlando Style Magazine and Orlando Magazine readers, will host its annual Spring auction at their gallery location in Pointe Orlando along International Drive.

On top on the “4 Big Names” in the art world, over 600 other artworks by critically-acclaimed contemporary artists such as Peter Max, Alfred Gockel, Pino, Ferjo,  Yaacov Agam, Nicola Simbari and Itzchak Tarkay are lined up to be called on the block. There will also be several artworks on consignment that will open at very low reserves. All the artworks available to collect from Baterbys’ own collection (with the exception of the artworks on consignment) are sold framed and come with two LIFETIME GUARANTEES: a Lifetime Exchange Policy and a Lifetime Guarantee to Authenticity.

This auction will benefit The Assistance Fund, a leading 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created to make access to medications a reality for patients who are critically or chronically ill. The roster of programs they run throughout the year can be summed up in the words of their founder, “We strive every day to achieve a world where no child or adult goes without medication due to an inability to pay.”

On Saturday, many artworks will start at very low reserves, some of them at $100 or below! There are many subjects and styles to choose from. Impressionistic landscapes and seascapes; abstract or realist works; portraits of women or families; cubist and surrealist masterpieces; subjects such as wildlife, architecture, pop culture, American life, religion and a host of many more. There is surely something for anyone with any kind of budget!

One “star” lot is a signed etching (aquatint and drypoint plate) by Pablo Picasso entitled, “Souvenirs: Cirque, avec El Gigante, et Autoportrait en Bebe-V” (Memories: Circus, with El Gigante and Self-Portrait as a Baby – Old Man). The artwork is from Picasso’s Suite 347 – his largest print series that he embarked on when he was eighty-six years old. Its name represents the number of prints in the suite, a project he completed in less than seven months in an etching workshop close to his residence in the South of France. Wide ranging in its motifs, Suite 347 engages spectacle and theater, as if presenting a stage on which Picasso reviews his life and art. This particular artwork is relatively large and commands as much attention as any other Picasso, with its obvious menagerie of well-scrutinized imageries and deep layers of perplexing, hidden meanings. The Museum of Modern Art in New York is just one of the top museums in the world that houses the same piece of art.

Pablo Picasso is ranked as the most prolific artist who ever lived. Not only did he create actual artworks at an unprecedented level, but he also pioneered revolutionary art movements that changed the face of modern art and became one of the most influential individuals in the hallways of history alongside colonialists, scientists, political leaders and other key figures. He was constantly involved in social matters and was therefore not unhinged on the pressing realities of his time.
