CARTES America 2013 to highlight smart-technology trends in USA

March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- CARTES America, the leading exhibition and conference for experts in smart cards, electronic payments and identification technologies in North America, will be held in Las Vegas (USA) from 23 to 25 April 2013. There will be 130 exhibitors and the conferences will focus on the broad themes of EMV and NFC deployments, mobile and advanced payments, and security.

CARTES America, a three-day conference and exhibition, will return to Las Vegas (USA) for the second year in a row, from 23 to 25 April 2013. With a sold-out roster of 130 exhibitors, CARTES America 2013 will host a range of C-level leaders (i.e. senior decision-makers and executives) in the banking, retail, mobile-payment, telecommunications and digital-security industries.

The inaugural conference of CARTES America 2012 was attended by nearly 2,000 participants from 54 countries, as well as 120 exhibitors.

CARTES America 2013 will feature 80 informative conference sessions with more than 100 speakers. The event will focus on the trends and technologies that facilitate new business in America’s large and dynamic smart-technology market.

More specifically, the CARTES America conference programme includes a number of sessions that will address three broad themes: first of all, Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) and Near Field Communication (NFC) deployments; secondly, mobile and advanced payments; and, thirdly, security. Strategic issues, such as The Wallet War or Electronic ID for a Secure Identity, along with Cloud and Cyber Security Challenges, will also be discussed during CARTES America 2013.

In 2013, CARTES will launch a new logo and the Secure Connexions Event strapline, which demonstrates the organisers’ renewed focus on connections between the human user and the technology, be it in the real or in the virtual world.

The Americas are preparing for an increase in EMV and NFC implementations in 2013 and beyond, which is why participants at CARTES America will gather to discuss the issues driving these markets, while exploring the latest technologies and trends in smart cards, mobile payments, identification and authentication.

Experts predict that the smart-card market is set for continued, sustained growth, with migrations to EMV in the USA and Latin America. Market-intelligence company ABI Research forecasts total shipments of 2.8 billion smart-card payment units by 2017, which is more than an eight-fold increase on 2011 (when there were 330 million such units).
