Mónica García Statement regarding re-election to LAUSD School Board.

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 6, 2013 - “It is an honor to be re-elected to serve the children and families of the LAUSD. I am thankful to the strong coalition of parents, students, teachers, labor and civic leaders who supported our Kids First campaign. It is inspiring to see that voters recognize the work we have done to transform our school district.

I want to thank the voters who voted in favor of education reform. While I am proud of what we have accomplished over the last six years, we remain steadfast in our commitment to increasing graduation and college going rates. Every child deserves access to a quality education and I will continue to work with our partners to build the kind of school district that makes sure all students graduate prepared for college and careers.

I look forward to working with anyone who puts kids first.”

García represents the 2nd School Board District, which includes all or parts of the neighborhoods of Unincorporated East Los Angeles, Highland Park, Boyle Heights, Chinatown, South LA, El Sereno, Koreatown, Lincoln Heights, Elysian Heights, Montecito Heights, Mt. Washington, Pico Union, University Park, Adams-Normandie, and Westlake.
