Have you ever wanted to try MMA classes? Well, MMA classes are not just for tuff guys who want to fight UFC anymore. Now you can find classes for men, women and even children. All of these options can be a positive and negative. On the positive side MMA classes are way more fun than going into a boring old gym and doing the same thing over and over again. There are so many benefits to training MMA; you have fitness, weight loss, self-confidence, self-defense and on and on. The positives of MMA classes just compound the longer you take them. You will get in better shape, be more confident and have the confidence to know you can defend yourself. On the negative side with the popularity of MMA your see more and more gyms opening up and most of them are very unqualified and they are using uncertified instructors. What I mean by unqualified is that the school may have a blue or purple belt teaching all of their classes. Most of the qualified schools are going to have minimum one black belt, two black belt, three black belts, etc… Also uncertified gyms there’s gym open up with no certification just teaching whatever they feel like without a feeling a detailed plan.
Here are a couple of tips to help you find a good mma school in your area. Make sure the school is certified with the major organization for Brazilian Jiu jitsu and Muay Thai. Next you want to make sure they offer a beginner’s only MMA class. Just putting you in regular classes is going to affect the rate you can learn and also highly increases the chances of injury and burn out. Then ask to see their detailed training program, a good MMA school should have everything written out ahead of time. The instructors should have a detailed plan to follow that will help you with your technique and your fitness.
So when you find a good school make sure you go in and ask to speak to one of the instructors. Talk to them about what they offer, ask them if they offer beginners only classes, if they have a detailed training program and what their certifications are. Just make sure that you’re getting everything you deserve for your time and money. Once you find a good school, get started training mma.
