March 6, 2013 - PRLog -- San Francisco (Mar. 6, 2013) –ProxToMe, <www.proxtome.com> today launches its Android app that allows users to discover people nearby (http://www.proxtome.com/) and easily share digital content (http://www.proxtome.com/) cloud-to-cloud (http://www.proxtome.com) in real-time without draining smartphone batteries. The announcement comes just two weeks after its initial launch for the iPhone.

“We worked fast to have our Android application ready in time for SXSW in order to disrupt and break down the current proximity barriers and offer attendees, presenters, bands and everyone else with the opportunity to experience local proximity interaction,” said Carlo Capello, CEO of ProxToMe. “With ProxToMe individuals at SXSW will be able to receive exclusive content from their favorite band during a live concert, presenters can send materials during their talks in real-time and individual can use it to spark up conversations with people nearby and share content one-to-one or one-to-many. The possibilities at SXSW and beyond are endless.”

ProxToMe’s proprietary proximity engine today utilizes Facebook profiles to identify known and unknown users and accurately detect all ProxToMe users within 250 feet either outdoor or indoor. Once nearby users are identified, individuals can instantly distribute digital content, anything from documents to full length movies, Dropbox to Dropbox in less than two seconds to one or thousands of people at once with no limitations on the type and size of the file. ProxToMe utilizes Bluetooth technology rather than GPS and will not drain battery power and no gestures, pre-set contacts or shared folders are needed.

“Since we love Android users we have been heads down coding to ensure that we are able to launch ProxToMe on Android just two weeks after our initial iPhone launch,” said Andrea Motto, CTO of ProxToMe. “Android users will now be able to utilize our proximity engine to spark up new conversations and share files with both Android and iPhone for effective real-time interaction (http://www.proxtome.com) between people in local proximity with no barriers at all.”

All files sent using ProxToMe are saved in a Dropbox folder entitled “ProxToMe” and file size is only limited by the amount of space available in each users Dropbox folder. Files do not start transferring until they are accepted and users can ignore the files they don’t want and can also block anyone at anytime from chatting and/or sending files.

The following features have been added to the Android:

·       Incoming file preview is available even if the user is not connected to Dropbox

·       Additional Dropbox information is available such as thumbnails, size and last update

·       Incoming files can be deleted directly from the chat view

·       Dates and times are visible within the chat view

·       Files can be navigated within the incoming folders

ProxToMe has been in Austin for the past two weeks preparing for SXSW. During these two weeks, ProxToMe has been working with many University of Texas communities providing students with the ability to share both school and social related content. ProxToMe will have a booth at SXSW (#1243) and is sponsoring a 2-day party called South by Sapporo – the Treehouse Diddly where more than 15 bands will showcase and use ProxToMe to instantly push exclusive content to their fans during the show.
