March 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Northampton, MA – The University of California San Diego’s School of Medicine and Center for Mindfulness developed and hosted the Bridging Hearts and Minds of Youth conference to help develop best practices within the growing movement of studying and teaching mindfulness practice to youth in educational, clinical, and community settings.

The audio and video recordings from the 2nd annual conference, held in San Diego in February 2013, are an opportunity for psychologists, counselors, educators and parents to learn from the people doing the work of teaching mindfulness to our youth, to develop skills and competencies to do this work in their particular setting, and to learn what science has to say about this important work.

“The 2nd Annual Bridging the Hearts and Minds of Youth conference was a remarkable gathering of researchers, teachers, clinicians and program developers,” said Steven D. Hickman, PsyD, Director, UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness. “This is a special community of professionals united around a common goal of helping our young people reach their potential and be happy, healthy, well-adjusted human beings who practice compassion, patience, equanimity and presence. The recordings are a perfect way to broaden our community and educate others interested in introducing mindfulness techniques to our future generation.”

The audio or streaming conference videos of individual talks, or the full conference, will be available at the end of March 2013 on morethansound.net.

The next Bridging Hearts and Minds of Youth conference is slated for February 7-9, 2014 at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego.
